This document describes the procedures for installing the VIP-BASIC 2.0 Demo environment on your hard drive. VIP-BASIC 2.0 is a System 7 only (or later) application. It requires a minimum of 2.5 MB of RAM available at launch, but will run better with 3.5 MB of RAM allocated. VIP-BASIC 2.0 will work on any 68K (Macintosh Plus or later) or Power Macintosh computer. A minimum of 8 MB of free space must be available on a hard drive in order to install the minimum VIP-BASIC 2.0 environment. The full environment may require up to 10 MB. Note that you don't need to install all the files on your hard drive, as some can be used directly from the VIP-BASIC 2.0 CD-ROM.
Limitations:
This demo version allows you to try out the VIP-BASIC 2.0 environment with the following limitations:
- The number of source code lines in a project is limited to 100 lines.
- No stand-alone applications can be generated.
- Projects cannot be exported as standard "C" text files.
- No links are provided to Metrowerks CodeWarrior.
1. Installation using the VIP-BASIC 2.0 Demo Installer
Use the installer application provided on the CD-ROM to install the VIP-BASIC 2.0 Demo environment. The installer will make sure all files are properly installed on your hard drive. You may choose to install the one or more of the 68K, Power Mac or FAT (68K and Power Mac) versions from the installer. To launch the installer, double-click the "VIP-BASIC™ 2.0 Demo Installer" application in the same folder as this document.
2. Uninstalling VIP-BASIC 2.0 Demo
Use the following steps to uninstall the VIP-BASIC 2.0 Demo:
- Delete the "VIP-BASIC™ 2.0 R2 Demo" folder.
- Delete the "VIP Externals" folder located in the "Extensions" folder of your active System Folder.
3. Examples
Many VIP-BASIC examples are provided on this CD-ROM to better understand the environment and provide interesting and useful source code. All the examples are located in the "VIP-BASIC Examples" folder.
4. Documentation
The documentation is provided electronically on the CD-ROM using eDOC Reader format. The eDOC Reader application is also provided on the CD-ROM. You can read the documentation directly from the CD-ROM, simply by double-clicking directly on the document file.
